THE PHILIPPINES

THE PHILIPPINES

Now i tell you how i found the Philippines especially Iloilo city. Here is the reason why i love the Philippines.
First, the JEEPNEY...
Jeepney is one of all common transportations in Iloilo city, so we always ride the jeepney when we go around the city. Why? Because it’s so cheap, only 7 peso. While if we ride taxi, it’s faster but more expensive. We should pay them at least 16 peso. Therefore, we choose to ride the jeepney and we save our money. The jeepney has own rute, that’s why sometimes we are waitīng so long time. We paid 7 peso just for one rute. Thus, if we go to some places where more far from the dorm, we have to transfer to another jeepney. I appreciate when almost all the Philippinos (philippines citizen) ride the jeepney. Moreover, my buddies told me that the president of ISATU also ride jeepney when he go to his place, Miag-ao even though he has personal car. We can talk each other in the jeepney, tell the stories and get have fun.

The memorable one is when we pay them from the back, the driver just saw us from the mirror and we need to say “bayat po sir”, it’s like we want to pay sir. At the first time, we as Indonesan students were laughing, because that’s almost same in Indonesia, we call that “bayar” (paid in Indonesia). One more thing, we just need to say “salogarlang sir” if we arrived in the place and the driver will stop the jeep. Ohhhh i like it even if all of the people inside surprised because we wear hijab to close our head.
Second, cleanliness and “WALAK SINDI” (no smoking)
The first  impression thing when i saw Iloilo city is about cleanliness. I really love it. I saw the platforms about cleanlines everywhere. On the other hand, there also are not alloweto smoke. Moreover, in the old market, they wride “walak sindi”.
Third, SANGING, HALO-HALO and BANANAQUE

I already tried some snacks and desserts. But i like halo-halo, sanging and bananaque. Halo-halo is a dessert like mixed from ice cream, soya, milk, and another jelly thing. We bought it in Mang inasal. Sanging is a snack like egg pie with sweet taste. So what about bananaque? Certainly, it is made from banana. Yap, it is fried banana with sugar and ythat is my favorite.
Actually, the Philippines has more unique culture. But i can’t find it only in one month. So, see you soon the Philippines...
